Andrew wrote this in September 2006: "It still bothers me that the pop-window is a way to launch a multimedia piece." He is so right. He inspired me to begin a list.
Things You Might Want to Avoid
(When You Design a Multimedia Package)
- Pop-up windows. Even one is too many.
- Excessive amounts of text. If you wanted text, why did you choose multimedia?
- Registration that is required. You invest hours or days of labor in a piece and then you don't want people to see it? How does that make sense?
- Big ugly ads that ruin your appealing package design. Create a tasteful way to include an ads, or ads, that is both ethical and non-intrusive. MSNBC.com did this with The Big Picture.
